VSPT UK Convenience & Wholesale Sales Manager

Salary: £40,000-£50,000 based on knowledge, experience and contacts.

That's the message from VSPT UK that is looking to strengthen its UK team with this vital hire. As James Much, UK sales manager for VSPT UK explains:

"We are looking for a commercially driven, hands-on operator to manage existing accounts and accelerate new growth across convenience, wholesale and cash & carry.

"This is a role for someone who can roll their sleeves up, win new business, build distribution and deliver results strategically and in-market.

"You’ll have real ownership, working across a focused, high-performing portfolio and live customer base covering the country. This position will play a key role in shaping our next phase of UK growth.

Key responsibilities in the role include:

  • To develop and execute a clear growth strategy for UK convenience, wholesale, cash & carry channel.
  • Deliver increased distribution, rate of sale and revenue across VSPT brands by targeting and securing new wholesale and convenience accounts.
  • Manage and grow key wholesale partnerships (national and regional), driving listings, promotions and long-term commercial plans.
  • Work alongside the UK Sales Manager in joint ownership of customer negotiation, pricing, promotional activity, A&P spend and joint business planning.
  • Spend a defined percentage of time in-market supporting customers directly, including depot days, trade engagement, and front-of-store selling to drive product visibility and sell-through.
  • Analyse performance data to identify growth opportunities across brands, SKUs, customers, and regions, taking proactive action to optimise results.
  • Operate within the UK teams commercial planning framework, maintaining accurate forecasts, managing budgets, and ensuring disciplined A&P spend against agreed targets.
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure the delivery of commercial plans and customer initiatives.
  • Act as the channel expert internally, providing insight into market trends, competitor activity and opportunities within convenience and wholesale.
  • Lead and execute customer-facing activity including trade days, tastings, and promotional events to build brand awareness and engagement.

Track record

Proven track record in UK convenience &/or wholesale channel, with strong existing relationships and demonstrable success in driving growth and securing listings.

Skills

Strong wine knowledge (WSET Level 2 or above desirable). Solid commercial and financial understanding. Advanced MS Office skills (Excel & PowerPoint).

Note: The contract is to work from home but the job requires a national approach covering all of the UK.
