• Based in Notting Hill, Armit Wines has a reputation as one of the UK’s leading contemporary wine merchants. We are proud the supply some the finest restaurants in the UK, and indeed the world, and offer access to the many iconic producers that we represent exclusively in the UK.

When John Armit founded the company in 1988, he was not afraid to break the mould and his role in transforming how the wine industry operated was pivotal. He pioneered the practice of buying directly from producers and building long standing relationships, some of them now being over 25 years old.

The company’s wine list still reflects these relationships and is considered to be one of the strongest in the trade for Italian wines, which includes the exclusive agencies of Ornellaia, Tenuta San Guido (Sassicaia), Giacosa, Querciabella, Tua Rita, Giacomo Fenocchio, Agricola Punica, Fattoria Le Pupille, and Il Marroneto. Armit is also recognised as a Bordeaux and Burgundy specialist, representing established figureheads of the fine wine world such as Château Lafleur, Domaine Leflaive and Leflaive & Associés, and Domaine de Montille, as well exploring these regions and working with rising stars such as Domaine Bart and Domaine Trapet-Rochelandet.

Today, Armit’s range is truly global, following the spirit of John’s passion for building close relationships with the world’s best winemakers. Ranging from long-established champions such as La Rioja Alta, Domaine Huet, and Diamond Creek, to boutique producers from across the world including: Digby Fine English; Champagnes Gimonnet and Geoffroy; Biancavigna Prosecco; the organic powerhouse Matetic; Astrolabe, Borthwick, and Stonecroft from New Zealand; and the Hobo Wine Company and Bien Nacido Estates in California.

In 2019 Armit Wines has continued to innovate, exploring a new generation of winemakers in Piedmont such as Davide Fregonese, la Contrada di Sorano, and Punset, and signing an exciting new project in Monstant, Terroir Sense Fronteres.

Today, Armit wines continues to embody John’s original philosophy; a company with an enviable portfolio, yet the antithesis of the traditional style of wine merchant. Passion, knowledge and service to proudly continue to represent a global roll call of wines with personality.
